Maria Cherlenko

MRS. MARIA CHERLENKO, beloved wife of the late Mr. George Cherlenko, passed away in Stettler on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at the age of 81 years.

Maria was born on March 5th 1926 in Spring Point, AB to Grace and Charles Wormley. She moved to Fort Macleod where she worked at the hospital before moving to Lethbridge. She met and married George Cherlenko and remained married for 61 years.

Maria dedicated the majority of her life to raising her family. She also enjoyed sewing, gardening and playing the piano. Once the children moved out, Maria and George spent a number of years traveling throughout Canada, the United States and Mexico. They brought back many souvenirs and memories of friends and family during their travels.

Maria is survived by her children Melvyn and Dwayne Cherlenko and daughter Pat Schickerowski; grandchildren Kevin and Wayne Schickerowski, Alexander, Christopher and Carlyn Cherlenko; great-grandchildren Sydney and Tristan; brother Edward; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

Maria was predeceased by her husband, George Cherlenko, sister Florence, brothers Raymond and Carl; granddaughter Charlene Bahan and great-grandchildren Aspyn and Madison Bahan.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge, with Canon James Robinson, officiating.

Interment at Mountain View Cemetery, Lethbridge, Alberta.
