Magdalena Madsen

MRS. MAGDALENA MADSEN of Picture Butte, beloved wife of the late Mr. Viggo Madsen, passed away at Piyami Place in Picture Butte on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at the age of 97 years.

Born in Medicine Hat, Lena was raised and educated in Foremost and Turin. She married Viggo Madsen on June 15, 1935 in Lethbridge, and together they raised three daughters in Turin and later in Picture Butte, where they moved in 1936. They returned to Turin in 1942 and back to Picture Butte in 1945, where she resided until her passing.

Lena is survived by her daughters; Marjorie Mervyn, Arlette (Charles) Bartha, and Gloria Strong, along with three sisters, two brothers, nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Besides her loving husband Viggo, Lena was predeceased by her parents George and Evelyn Gaetz, three sisters, and two brothers.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge, with Reverend Glenda Wert, officiating.

Interment at Mountain View Cemetery, Lethbridge.
