Service Details
MADELEINE ""MADDIE"" SOPHIE KINNIBURGH of Lethbridge, Alberta passed away peacefully with family by her side after a lengthy struggle with Multiple Sclerosis on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at the age of 60 years.
The youngest of 11 children born to Bill and Dorothy Barmettler in Omaha, Nebraska, Maddie married Robert Kinniburgh in 1968 and subsequently moved to Lethbridge shortly thereafter. Together they had two children, Robert Jr. and Nicole.
Maddie enjoyed a variety of artistic pursuits over the years, the companionship of her pets, most recently ""Tommy"" her beloved dog, and above all her relationships with family and friends. Many of her friendships lasted throughout her adult years in Lethbridge. The Tuesday ""coffee girls"" and visits from Wendy Sherman were highlights in her week along with the loving friendship of Esther Lambert. Despite the distance from her siblings, she maintained a keen interest in their lives and her many nieces and nephews. The last 18 months were spent in Nicole's home where she was compassionately cared for and developed a special relationship with her grandson, Noah. They spent many hours together and she enjoyed the many unannounced visits from Noah throughout the day. She also looked forward to the visits from her other three grandchildren from Calgary and keeping up with their pursuits and interests.
Maddie is survived by her children, Nicole, and son Robert (Shannon) and four grandchildren, Paige, Jack, Reid and Noah. She is also survived by numerous siblings.
Special thanks is to be extended to her numerous caregivers over the years, in particular Michelle Cook and Paula Rogers. In addition, thank you to Lethbridge Home Care and We Care for their ongoing care of Madeleine.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 7:00PM and 8:00PM on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge.
