Madeleine was born in St. Brieux, Saskatchewan on April 5, 1928, to Lea and Wilfred Lacharite. She moved to Pincher Creek, Alberta with her family in 1947 and worked as a nurse’s aide at St. Michael’s hospital. She met Edward in Lethbridge in 1947 and they married November 16, 1948, residing on the Cattoi family farm north of Lethbridge where they grew sugar beets and wheat, as well as vegetables and beautiful flowers in their gigantic garden for many years. Madeleine and Edward moved to Lethbridge in 2005 where they lived until their passing.
In addition to gardening, Madeleine loved listening to music, singing and playing her guitar throughout her long life. In her most recent years, she enjoyed colouring, painting and participated in an art show displaying her works.
Spending time with her family and friends was Madeleine’s greatest joy. In the words of the most positive light we have known in our world, “it was a long ride…je t’aime beaucoup”. We will miss our beautiful Mom and love her for all eternity.
Our family would like to thank Dr. Smith and all the nursing staff at the Fairmont Extendicare for their loving care of Mom. We also extend our thanks to the Recreation Therapists who kept us connected to Mom with video calls when we could not be there in person, as well as her personal companions who brought joy to her through art and music.
