Doug Macfarlane

1952 ~2015

Doug Macfarlane of Lethbridge, beloved and cherished husband of Alana Macfarlane, passed away on April 6, 2015 at the age of 63 years.

Doug was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and was chosen by his adopted parents Duncan and Marian. He spent the early years of his life in Halifax as well as in South Hampton, England and Glasgow, Scotland, before moving to Calgary to further pursue his musical career.

Doug was a man of few words but those who knew him well knew he had a quick wit, great sense of humour, and loved to talk about his passions. One of his main passions was music. Doug was in his glory behind his drums, playing the music that he loved. Music ran through his veins and he could usually be found tapping his hands, feet, singing or a combination of all.

Doug's other and most valued passion was his wife, Alana, whom he loved fiercely. In Alana he found his best friend, life companion and soulmate. They enjoyed countless adventures together but their most memorable of times was their rafting trips. Although they usually ended up with a capsized raft, the memories and laughter they shared will be treasured forever.

Besides his loving wife, Alana, Doug is survived by his daughter Shana (Dylan) Adkins, his son, Kyle McNab, sisters Jean Pulley & Susan (Robert) Webster; mother-in-law Elaine Brown; sister-in-law Deb Forsyth; as well as nieces, nephews and their families.

Doug was predeceased by his parents, Marian and Duncan and his father-in-law Alan Brown.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Burke, nurses on 4C, Palliative Care doctors and nurses, Nathan from Lethbridge Homecare and to Huckvale LLP for their compassion.
