March 23, 1920 to October 11, 2009

Lloyd Pihera passed away in Lethbridge after a short stay at Extendicare. He was predeceased by his wife, Jolane, in 1999, his brother Alex, in 1968 and his father in 1971.

He is survived by his stepson Gary Young (Sharie) of Calgary, his grandchildren Jennifer (Duc Le) of Chestermere, Jeffrey Young (Carmen Isfeld) of Vancouver, Breanne (Devin Uhrich) of Calgary, and great grandchildren, Benjamin, William, Oliver ,and numerous nieces and one nephew. He is also survived by a very special, dear friend, Sharon Gordon of Calgary, whom, without her support and companionship, the last 10 years would have been very difficult.

He was born on a farm near Springwater, Saskatchewan. At an early age, he moved to Winnipeg with his father and brother, living there until 1942. He then moved west to Calgary and went to work for CPR Telegraph. In 1943, he gained employment with Alberta Government Telephones, retiring from AGT almost 40 years later.

Lloyd took great pride in his volunteer activities with many non-profit organizations and his contributions will be sorely missed.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am, on Thursday, October 15, 2009, at the MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 St., S., Lethbridge, Alberta, with Valerie Martel-Kostiuk officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, Lethbridge and District Chapter, 724 13 Street North, Lethbridge, Alberta.
