MR. ALBERT LINK of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Mrs. Mary Eva Link, passed away at St. Michael's Health Center after a lengthy illness on Friday, April 18, 2008 at the age of 74 years.
Albert is survived by his children daughter Kelly (Kirk) Sharp of Innisfree; sons Richard (Jessie) Link of Dartmouth, David (Jackie) Link of Lethbridge and Michael (Gisele) Link of Lethbridge; four grandchildren Shane Sharp of Innisfree, Josh Link of Lethbridge, Kelly Link and Kaitlynd Link both of Lethbridge; one sister Marta (Gabriel) Mezei of Vauxhall; one brother Ewald (Anna) Link of Medicine Hat; one sister-in-law Herta Link of Medicine Hat; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Albert was predeceased by his father Adam in 1933, his mother Adeline in 1993, his brother Waldemar in 2000 and two infant sisters.
Albert was born on august 15, 1933 in Helenow, Poland. He and his family later relocated to Germany where he was raised and educated. At the age of 15, Albert and his family immigrated to Canada on January 18, 1949. The family settled in Medicine Hat where Albert began working in the construction industry for his Uncle Ewald. In 1956, he met Mary Eva Anderson in Medicine Hat. They were married later that year in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. They moved to Vancouver for a year working in the construction industry. They returned the following year where Albert and his brothers formed Link Brother's Construction. They spent many years building residential and commercial properties throughout Western Canada. Albert and his family moved to Lethbridge in 1971 where he managed the Lethbridge branch of the company.
Albert loved family outings whether it meant playing a game of baseball at the park with the gang, camping, skiing, boating, fishing or hunting. Albert worked hard all of his life and most of his free time was spent enjoying life with his family. He was an excellent craftsman with the ability to make just about anything with wood. His creations will be cherished. Albert also enjoyed spending time at the coffee shop with his friends and business associates. He appreciated the honour of working with many talented contractors and trades people throughout his career. Albert was old school, operating on a hand shake and always keeping his word. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be forever missed and loved by his family and all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 12:00pm and 12:45pm on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 followed by a Funeral Service held at 1:00pm on at CHRIST TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 416 - 12 Street South, Lethbridge, with Pastor Jason Anderson, officiating. A lunch will follow at the church following the service.
A Private Interment for family will take place at 1:00pm on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at the Hillside Cemetery in Medicine Hat.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Those who wish, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
