Official Obituary of
10/11/1924 - to - 7/12/2007
Mr. Herb Le Roy of Lethbridge passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on Friday, December 7, 2007 at the age of 83 years.
He is survived by his beloved wife Audrey, his daughters Laraine Hamman (Bill) of Lethbridge, Susan Kane (Doug deceased) of Westlock and Valerie Le Roy (Sheldon Wiens) of Lloydminster, 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Robert Bourke (Joyce) of Edmonton.
Herb was born in Calgary in 1924 and moved to Lethbridge in his early years. He enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces and went into Normandy with the Calgary Highlanders a few days after D-Day. He was wounded in the battle of Falaise Gap and met his beloved wife Audrey while recovering in England. Audrey and Herb were married in England in 1945 and returned to Lethbridge where Herb worked in the automotive industry for a number of years while raising their family. Herb later worked for 22 years with Taber Irrigation as a ditch rider and then retired to Lethbridge. He grew up loving fishing and hunting and in his later years enjoyed the challenge of learning the use of his personal computer.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. The family extends their thanks for the care provided by the Nurses and Doctors of the Lethbridge Regional Hospital.
At Herb's request a private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
