Leonard McCarty

With heavy hearts, we are sad to announce that our father Leonard H. McCarty passed away peacefully surrounded by love on August 12, 2020.

Leonard will be lovingly remembered by his children Cindy Karras (Rob Ayers) and Bradley McCarty (Robert Pashuk); grandson Parker Karras (Lexi Feist); brother and best friend Desmond (Judy) McCarty; sister Yvonne (Mike) Koshley and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents Clifford and Winnie McCarty and sister Jill Taylor.

Dad was born in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan. He started early school 3 miles from the family farm until grade 8 then Shaunavon high school. He started on the oil rigs at the age of 17 and came to Taber, Alberta at 19. He remained with the oil patch for 45 years then slowly retired to driving truck.

Dad passed away August 12, 2020, after a lengthy hard-fought battle with arthritis, dialysis, heart failure and complications from a recent fall. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him.

A Celebration of Dad’s Life will take place in the spring of 2021 in order to allow family and friends to travel and gather safely.

A special thank you to all the nurses and doctors that were there for Dad, a very big thank you to the beautiful people at the Heritage Lodge in Lethbridge for welcoming Dad with open arms and making him a part of their family.

We will miss his sense of humor, playful charm, his mischievous story telling and that infectious smirk.

May he rest in Paradise!
