Mr. Leo Lodermeier of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Evelyn Lodermeier, passed away on January 6, 2015 at the age of 95 years.

Leo was born at home in the Allerston district on March 29, 1919 to Paul and Theresa (Kascht) Lodermeier.

After attending school for 8 years, Leo ended formal education, as many did in those years. He struck out on his own, working at various local jobs before settling down. In the late 1940s he purchased land at Masinasin and in 1948 he married Evelyn Thielen. In the early 1950s they built a new home on the property. He and Evelyn had two children, Teresa, born in 1955 and Darrell, born in 1957.

Leo worked a traditional mixed farm, growing cereal grains, as well as raising a few cattle and chickens. Leo was also a well-regarded caretaker of Masinasin School for many years, and a long-standing member of St Isidore’s, then St. Patrick’s Catholic Parishes. In 1981 Leo and Evelyn retired to Lethbridge where they have lived in their own home ever since.

Leo is survived by his wife of 66 years, Evelyn. He was predeceased by both of his children. He is also survived by 5 grand-daughters: Suzanne Lodermeier (Steven Sibley), Kelly (Mike) Marcotte, Marina (Brad) Balog, Kristina McAdam and Vanessa Lodermeier (Robbie Rolfe); his son-in-law, Peter McAdam and daughter-in-law, Rita Lodermeier; as well as three great grandsons: Jordan & Riley Sibley-Lodermeier and Braxton Balog.

A gentle man, with a kind smile and warm heart, Leo will be missed by all.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00am on Monday, January 12, 2015 at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION, 2405 12 Ave. S., Lethbridge, AB. A private family interment will be held at Allerston Cemetery, family plot.
