Katharina ""Kathe"" Kulcsar 1924 ~ 2014 Kathe was born Katharina Ambrosi in Draas, Romania on October 10, 1924, the third of seven children. There, she grew up in a quiet rural setting where almost everything was made by hand, which fostered ingenuity and a strong work ethic. Kathe left home at a young age to seek training as a secretary for a doctor, but the Second World War interrupted life and she along with her family were forced to leave their ancestral home. She met Hans, her future husband, in Salzburg, Austria after the war. In 1951 most of her family and Hans immigrated to Canada, beginning their life in a new land working a sugar beet contract near Magrath. Hans and Kathe were married in Lethbridge in 1954. They had 3 children - Frank, Rudy & Vicki. As the family became established in Magrath, Kathe created a home that was the central focus for many family gatherings. She loved to bake and cook so there were always many delicious old country cakes and cookies to be enjoyed with coffee. Kathe enjoyed working with her hands, and she loved to sew, knit and crochet. She was also a passionate lifelong reader. Another big part of her life was the love of gardening. She loved the multicolours of her flower garden. Kathe was also active in her church and the local ladies group. Kathe is survived by her son Frank (Diane) Kulcsar and their children, Corrine, Brandy & Keeley, son Rudy Kulcsar, daughter Vicki (Doug) Grisack and their children, James & Natasha and one great granddaughter, Tequila Kulcsar-Kabel. She also leaves behind numerous beloved family members and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Hans and 3 brothers and 2 sisters. She will be greatly missed.
