Kenneth Barnett

KENNETH EARL ""BARNEY"" BARNETT, beloved husband of the late Rose Barnett, passed away peacefully at the St. Michaels Health Care Centre in Lethbridge on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at the age of 80 years.

Barney was born on October 17, 1928 in Kennedy, SK to George and Eva Barnett. He ventured west to Lethbridge, to attend Garbutt Business College. Upon completion he enjoyed a successful 42 year career in the accounting department at the Lethbridge Herald. He was a member of the Lethbridge Senior Citizen's Organization where he spent many times dancing the night away.

Barney is survived by his son Rod (Terry); grandchildren Jordon, Tiffany and Kelsey; brother Bert (Fran), sister Norma and many nieces and nephews, as well as special friend Vera Telenga. He was predeceased by his parents; wife Rose; son Greg; brothers-in-law Tom Adams, Jack Credico and Tom McLaren.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at 2B House at St. Michael's Health Care Centre for making Dad's last days so meaningful and dignified.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 12, 2009 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge, with Reverend Elizabeth Brown officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Michael's Health Care Foundation, 1400 - 9 Ave South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 4V5 or a charity of one's choice.
