WILLIAM “BILL” KAUPP
1953 ~ 2018
Mr. Bill Kaupp of New Dayton, beloved husband of Mrs. Paula Kaupp, passed away suddenly on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at the age of 64 years.
Bill was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, the eldest son of Howard and Frankie Kaupp. He was later joined by five younger brothers and one sister. He began school in New Dayton before eventually attending Warner School where he met a great friend in Blake Baron and soon drew the interest of his younger sister Paula. Only a few years later Bill married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life Paula Baron on December 7, 1974. Before settling into his farming career in New Dayton, Bill and Paula spent a period of time in Malta where Bill worked the oil fields in the Libyan Sahara Desert. Once settled on the farm in New Dayton they eventually welcomed 2 daughters followed by 2 sons. Bill took great pride in his farming and his inventive mind was endlessly unique. Any project he could think of you could be assured that he’d eventually be in the shop fabricating it. During the younger years of his children’s lives, Bill also farmed in Cut Bank, Montana where the family would spend lots of time camping on the Two Medicine River. Bill was a very accomplished curler, a sport he enjoyed his whole life. You could find him in nearly every bonspiel around the country where he met so many life long friends. His last years were spent enjoying semi-retirement where he renewed his interest in flying and spent much of his time with Paula in Gulfport, MS and Rexford, MT. The true light of Bill’s life in the last years has been his beloved grandchildren. Nowhere was there a prouder grandfather, there was no role Bill filled better than that of the doting Papa. The grandchildren delighted in testing Grandpas endurance by making him spend hours in the hot tub where they played and made great memories. He will forever be remembered for his hearty and distinctive laugh, his generosity of spirit and his undying love of family. Bills legacy will always be defined by the pride he took in the accomplishments and lives of his four loving children. He was always sure to make certain that they and everyone around him knew this.
Besides the love of his life Paula, Bill is survived by his daughters Jaime (Jordy) Metzger, Lindsay (Ivor) Magill; son Jon (Jessica) Kaupp; grandchildren Olivia, Nate, Raya, Maggie, Reggie, Annabelle and Henry; as well as his parents Howard and Frankie Kaupp; his brothers Pat (Audrey), Brian (Jeannie), Gordon (Pam), Shelly (Leslie), Gerald and sister Karen; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
A Private Family Prayer Service will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2018.
A Celebration of Bill's Life will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the WARNER CIVIC CENTRE, 508 - 4 Ave, Warner, Alberta, T0K 2L0, with Pastor Brian Magee officiating. A Private Family Interment will follow in the Warner Cemetery.
Memorial donations in Bill’s name may be made to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lethbridge, 622 – 6 Avenue S., Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 0Z3.
