Katie Kopp August 17, 1915 ~ September 10, 2013 It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our Mother and Oma on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 10:30 AM, having reached the age of 98. Katie was born on August 17, 1915 in Lugofsk, Samara, Russia. She came to Canada in 1926 arriving in Manitoba in October. In the spring of 1935 she moved to Coaldale. She married George Kopp on May 26, 1938, and they were blessed with 10 children, 3 sons and 7 daughters. They moved into Coaldale in 1981. Her family was of great importance to her and she was able to enjoy all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren right up until the time of her passing. She leaves to mourn 9 children: Peter Kopp (Sue), Marianne Thiessen (Bob), Elsie Reimer (John), Nettie Karr (Jim), Helen Baerg, Martha Ratzlaff (Ron), Bertha Thiessen, Elvin Kopp (Jan) and Lill Jeschke (Dennis), 26 grandchildren and 61 great-grandchildren, sister Annie Regier (Peter), brothers Jake Thiessen (Mary), and Isaac Thiessen. She was predeceased by her husband George, infant son Johnny, 3 brothers, and son-in-law Larry Thiessen. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 7 pm and 8 pm on Sunday, September 15, 2013 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4th St. S. Lethbridge. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30pm, on Monday, September 16th, 2013 at the Coaldale Mennonite Brethren Church, 2114 - 18 St., Coaldale with Pastor Lorne Willms officiating. An interment will be held prior to the service at the Coaldale Cemetery.
