1928 ~ 2018

Mrs. Kathleen Jeannette Collin of Diamond City, beloved wife of the late Mr. Merton Collin, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Friday, April 13, 2018 at the age of 89 years.

Kathleen is survived by 5 daughters – Elizabeth (Elwyn) Holmberg, Karen Collin, Shirley Mireault, Lorna Wall and Danni (Michael) McKenzie; 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; along with many well-loved nieces, nephews and a few cousins. She is also survived by her half siblings Lynne, Betty, Edward, Rosemarie, Donald, Evelyn, Margaret, Iris and Mary-Anne.

Kathleen was born in Wabamun, AB and at the age of one, moved with her family to a homestead at Edson, AB. As her father worked for the railway, the family also lived in Mirror, Saunders, Alsask and Lloydminster. After her marriage in 1946, she and Merton started Hi-Way Grocery Store in Edson, which later became Collin Grocery Co. Ltd.

Kathleen volunteered in many community organizations her whole life. After moving to Diamond City, Kathleen continued to be active especially with the Diamond City Community Association. She took bookings and cleaned the hall for over 20 years after Merton passed.

Kathleen appreciated the friendship of all her Diamond City neighbors and their visits and help in recent years.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the DIAMOND CITY HALL, Diamond City, AB.

Cremation entrusted to Martin Brothers Funeral Chapels.
