Julie Erais

MRS. JULIA ERAIS of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. John Erais, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2008 at the age of 87 years.

Julia (Julie) was born December 22, 1920 in London England. The youngest of 14 children, she grew up in the heart of London during war years. John while serving in the Canadian Armed Services met Julie and they were wed on June 6, 1944. Julie and John had one son, Tivador (Tiv), while in London and then sailed to Canada on the Queen Mary in 1946. John and Julia settled in the Milk River having another child, a daughter Ann and then found their way to Lethbridge. In Lethbridge they completed their family with another son, Ronald. Julie and John were often seen twirling their way around the dance floor at the Picture Butte Legion or Elks. They were veteran campers and we remember smellin' breakfast cooking - beans, eggs 'n tomatoes. Yum! Julia was a great cook and her apple pies (made from her very own backyard tree), butter and mincemeat tarts and raisin cookies will surely be missed. Julie and John's house was home to neighborhood kids she babysat, boarding special needs children, and the Sugar Kings Junior Hockey players she billeted. Mom always had an open door with a cup of coffee and friendly smile for visitors, welcoming them into her home.

Our parents taught us well; to be compassionate, friendly, trustworthy and to act with dignity. Dad left us far too soon and without a goodbye. We at least had our goodbyes with mom.

GG Grandma Julie will be missed by us all. We love you, and know that you are in a happier place, together with dad.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge, with Mr. Jim Chapman, officiating.
