Joseph O'Donnell

JOSEPH O'DONNELL, beloved husband of the late Margaret O'Donnell passed away at the Milk River and District Health Centre on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at the age of 91 years.

Joe was born on May 10, 1916 in St. Albert, the fourth child of nine born to Bill and Adeline O'Donnell. He received his early schooling from the Priest at Ft. Rae on the north shore of Great Slave Lake where his father ran a trading post, and later at the O'Donnell school after moving back to the St. Albert area. In 1939 he heard of work in Milk River where he met Margaret Loft. They were married January 14, 1943. Working hard, together they devoted their lives to raising their two daughters, farming and cattle.

Joe is survived by his daughter Betty Anna O'Donnell (Wayne Thielen), grandchildren Brady Thielen, Cheryl Spencer (Dennis Andriashek), Todd (Cathy) Spencer, Terry Spencer, Trevor and Jody Thielen and great-grandsons Cody, Klynt and Clayton Spencer and Steven and Spencer Andriashek, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister Ellen (Flossie) O'Donnell and sisters-in-law Emma Swanson and Helen Loft.

He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Margaret, daughter Monna Spencer, parents Bill and Adeline O'Donnell.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Milk River, with Pastor Jim Krause, officiating.
