Josef Macht

MR. JOSEF MACHT of Coaldale, beloved husband of Marge Nonay passed away in Lethbridge on Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at the age of 79 years.
Born on April 12, 1929 in Koehler, Russia, the late Josef Macht Jr. arrived in Canada in 1953 and settled in the Coaldale area. Here he raised four children, Leo, Betty (Tim), Susan (Ross) and Bob. He met his life partner Marge in 1980 and his extended family grew to include Audrey (Mike), Jenny (Alan), Marianne (John), Ruth (Steve) as well as Marge's siblings.

Josef worked for many years as a carpenter to support his family. Family was very important to him and his greatest pleasure was to spend time with them. He loved working in his garden, golfing, spending summers at Stafford Lake and in the Okanagan and enjoying time with his dogs Missy and Buddy.

Josef is survived by his siblings Peter (Johanna) Macht, Rosa (John dec.) Rickert and Lydia (Norbert) Franke. He has 19 grandchildren who dearly loved spending time with their Opa.

Josef was predeceased by his father, Josef Sr., his mother Magdalena, and brothers Emmanuel and Leo.

A special thank you to Dr. Ernie Janzen and all the staff of the ICU of the Chinook Regional Hospital for their constant care and for everyone's prayers and support over the past three weeks.

Vigil Rites (prayers) will be held at 7:00PM, on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 St., S., Lethbridge, AB.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00AM on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at ST. AMBROSE CATHOLIC CHURCH, of which he was a long time member, 1513- 23 Ave. Coaldale, AB, with celebrant Fr. Tomy Manjaly. Interment to following at Mountain View Cemetery.

Following the graveside service a reception will be held for family and friends at the Coaldale Community Hall.
