John David “Chug” Rempel

1935 ~ 2015

John David “Chug” Rempel was born in Codette, Saskatchewan on June 8, 1935 to John & Katherine (nee Nickel) Rempel. Married to Mathilda (nee Schmold) in 1955, John led a rich and well-rounded life, centered on his family and friends. He left this life at the age of 80 years, surrounded by his loved ones.

He is survived by a large family that will keep his memory and values alive for many years. He leaves behind wife Mathilda, sister Ruth Martens (David), five children and their families: Doris & Ted Van Dyk (Brandon & Tiana, Courtney & Aaron, Evelyn & Alice), Barb & Marc Boulanger (Michael, Mathieu, Melissa), Diane & Ray Vienneau (Josh & Dayle, Corey & Gwen, Katie), Bruce & Connie Rempel (Justin, Tyler, Coleby, Brittany, Caitlin, Caterina, Sean, Mariah, Skyler, Dalton, Samantha, Dahkarai, Danika), Al Rempel (Derek & Kaitlyn).

We will remember our father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend in life’s simplest moments: an early morning at a favourite fishing hole, racking cue balls for a game of pool, the whine of a Sprint car rounding the final corner of a race, a not-so-funny joke that you can’t help laughing at, enjoying a piece of peanut brittle or a good cup of coffee.

A Celebration of his Life will be held at 1:00pm, on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Coaldale’s Gem of the West, 1306 20 Avenue, Coaldale AB. If you loved and laughed with John, come join us in celebrating his life.
