John Matejko

On June 23, 2011 JOHN EDWARD MATEJKO passed away peacefully at the Coaldale Health Centre after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 71 years.

John was born in Nyiregyhaza, Hungary in 1939, the youngest of eight children, and came to Canada in 1957. He met Ida (Gyorffy) and soon married. They had two children; Edward and Alan (Cindee) Matejko. He also had three grandchildren; Evan, Natasha and Aimee.

John was a hard worker, starting out hoeing beets, framing houses, working as a laborer and eventually owning his own business as a cement finisher. He always seemed to have time to stop and visit with friends and help out in any way he could. He loved to share his garden, make sausage, go fishing, and ride his bicycle. He enjoyed being with family and friends. He will be sadly missed.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 7:00 and 9:00 pm on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge.

A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, with Pastor Brian Magee, officiating.
