John Johnson

MR. JOHN JOHNSON of Lethbridge, passed away at the St. Michael's Palliative Care Centre on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at the age of 85 years.

John is survived by his brother Norman (Gerri) Johnson; sister Alice Watson; nephew Norman (Linda) Watson; nieces Sandra (Paul) Sir, Karen (John) Lanser; as well as numerous grand nieces and nephews.

John was predeceased by his parents John and Lena Johnson and sister Audrey.

John was born in Edmonton in 1923. He later joined the Canadian Navy in 1941, and was then embarked to Halifax and served in the North Atlantic and South Pacific. John disembarked in 1945 in Vancouver, only to come home after circling the globe. He then worked as a railway engineer, and later as a maintenance man with the Alberta Government and went on to retire in Lethbridge. John was an avid outdoors man and he loved to fish.

The family would like to send a special thank-you to Dr. H. Leam and all of the staff of the St. Michael's Palliative Care Centre for their care of John during his stay.

A Memorial Service will be held in Edmonton at a later date.
