Joanne Scholdra 1931 ~ 2014 Mrs. Joanne Scholdra of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Roman Scholdra, passed away on November 29, 2014 at the age of 83 years. Joanne was born in Carmen, Manitoba to Hjalmar and Geneva Oss. She lived in rural Saskatchewan until grade 8, then she moved with her mother to Saskatoon to go to school. She graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a degree in nursing, and went on to get a Master's Degree in Nursing, and a PhD in education from the University of Washington. She became the first director of nursing at the University of Lethbridge, setting up the degree program in nursing there, then working and teaching there until her retirement in 1990. Joanne is survived by her daughter Elke Scholdra. Besides her loving husband, Joanne was predeceased by her parents Hjamar and Geneva Oss. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 20 Rocky Mountain Blvd. W., Lethbridge, AB, with Pastor Nathan Fuehrer, officiating.
