The Official Obituary of

JACOB JOAN ELEANOR JACOB, beloved wife of Selwyn Jacob, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2013 at the age of 60 years. Joan was the 5th child born to Beatrice and Bryant Bacchus, on July 6, 1952 in Georgetown, Guyana. She is the sister of Albert (deceased), Aubrey, June, Mildred (deceased), Michael, Bryant, Mervyn, and Gillian. She left Guayna before her 18th birthday, in 1970 for Canada. She settled in Edmonton, Alberta, where she met her future husband, Selwyn Jacob. They married in L.A. California in 1973. Upon their return to Edmonton in 1974, Joan graduated from the U of A with a BSc in Zoology. She worked for Alberta Environment from 1975 to 1977 when she became a Systems Analyst where she worked for Andersen Consulting, Telus, ICBC to name a few. In 1997 she and her husband relocated to Vancouver, BC and continued to work as a Systems Analyst until she retired in 2005. She liked to cook and entertain, and enjoyed hosting international students. Additionally, liked the theatre, especially Broadway and looked forward to the Vancouver Film Festival each year. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at CELEBRATION HALL, MOUNTAIN VIEW CEMETERY, 5455 Fraser St?Vancouver, with Valerie Martell-Kostiuk, officiating.
