March 18, 1946 - July 20, 2008

Jim passed away, with family by his side, at the age of 62. He was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba but moved with his family to Coutts in 1950. Jim had a variety of interests including his horses, fishing and travel. His free soul and independent spirit, along with his love of travel, introduced Jim to many new places and a variety of people. Jim made friends easily and many times a stranger became a friend because of his willingness to lend a hand. He lived a full life, wore ""many hats"" but ultimately chose to drive truck as his occupation. This suited him very well. Jim retired a year ago after being diagnosed with cancer. He dedicated this past year to doing the things that he loved....

He is survived by his mother, Janet Lippa of Coutts; daughter Heather Ferguson (Brad) of Maidstone, SK, grandchildren Cameron & Joelene, brother Andrew Smith (Roxie) of Milk River, nephews Devon & Clayton of Lethbridge as well as a large extended family and numerous friends. Jim was predeceased by his step-dad, Nick Lippa of Coutts.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Wednesday, July 30th, 2008 at the Coutts Community Cemetery, Coutts, AB. A Memorial Celebration will follow at the Coutts Civic Center.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jim's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association 210D, 12 A St. N., Lethbridge, AB, T1H 2J1 or the Canadian Cancer Society, 317-10th St. S., Lethbridge, AB, T1J 9Z9.
