MR. JAMES C. McKAY of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Mrs. Ruth McKay, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at the age of 73 years.
Jim was born on March 23, 1938 in Beaverlodge, Alberta to Mildred (nee Wishart) and Grant McKay. Jim served his country in the Canadian Army from 1960 -1966 and served with the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus. He was a member of the Lethbridge Regional Police Service for 31 years, retiring with the rank of Sergeant on May 22, 1997. Jim was an avid golfer and a long serving member of the Royal Canadian Legion.
Besides his loving wife Ruth, Jim is survived by his daughter Karen (Dave) along with grandchildren Chad, Jordan, Paige (Cody), and great-grandson William; sons Kenneth and John (Rebeccah) along with grandchildren Emily, Ethan, Riley and Justin; brother Iain; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his parents Grant and Mildred and his brother Don McKay.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, February 13, 2012 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge, with Major Glen Habkirk officiating.
