James ""Jim"" B. Murray of Lethbridge, formerly of Warner, beloved husband of Alice Murray, passed away at the St. Michael's Palliative Care Unit on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the age of 74 years.
Jim was born on October 9, 1938, in Lethbridge and lived on the farm in Warner. He attended school in Warner, St. Anthony's, Edmonton, and Olds School of Agriculture. He married Alice Kaupp in 1960 and in 1963 moved back to take over the family farm.
Jim was very community minded, acting on many boards and committees in the community, plus a dedicated member of the Warner Lions Club. He was devoted to the 4-H club and really enjoyed working with the children. Jim was also a very involved member of Our Lady of Loudes parish in Warner.
Jim enjoyed people and visiting. He always had time for his friends and neighbors. He has a story to tell about everyone he knew. He was always very friendly and optimistic. He saw the good in everyone. His greatest love was his wife, children and his grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his wife Alice; 5 children Karen (Derek) of Victoria, BC; Michael (Maureen) of Warner and Michael's daughter Nyx; Joan of Lethbridge and her children Riley and Delaney; Heather of Fort McMurray; Glen (Susan) of Lethbridge and their children Sam, Melanie and Rachel. He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Doris, son Daniel James, and sister Marion Cradduck.
He will be sadly missed by his family and all who knew him.
Vigil Rites (Prayers) will be held at 7:00 pm, on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the St. Peter's Catholic Church, Milk River, Alberta. Interment will be held in the Warner Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Jim's memory can be made to a charity of one's choice.
