JACOB SLINGERLAND of Diamond City, beloved husband of Jacoba Slingerland (VandenHoek), passed away after a lengthy illness at the St. Michael's Health Care Centre on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at the age of 74 years.

Besides his loving wife Coby Slingerland, Jacob is survived by his daughters Jenny (Wim) de Vos, Nellie (Marty) Vandenberg, Joanne (Edy) VandeBruinhorst, Margaret (Arend) Pelleboer, Fran (Ken) Vanden Broek, Linda (Rob) Vanden Broek, Judy (Jos) Groenendyk; sons Neil (Margaret), Tony (Nella), Jake (Caroline), Ben (Korlinda); 74 grandchildren as well as 3 brothers and 3 sisters and their families.

Jacob was predeceased by his parents Cornelis and Jannigje Slingerland, sister Judith, sister Maria, a stillborn sister, brother Case, son-in-law Harry Van Maanen, grandchildren Charles Vanden Broek and Lyle Vandenberg.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 6:00PM and 8:00PM, on Saturday, February 14, 2009, at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 St., S., Lethbridge, AB.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00AM, on Monday, February 16, 2009, at NETHERLANDS REFORMED CONGREGATION OF PICTURE BUTTE, 601 - 3a Street South with Reverend A.H. Verhoef officiating. Interment to follow in the Memorial Cemetery of Picture Butte.
