Jacob Hendricks

October 21, 1911 ~ August 16, 2007

JACOB HENDRICKS went to be with his Lord and Savior at the age of 95 years on Thursday, August 16, 2007. He is survived by his beloved wife Annie and had the joy and blessing of celebrating their 70th anniversary on October 4, 2006. Besides his loving wife, he is also survived by his six children: Jake (Annette) of Lethbridge, Ernie (Susan) of Lethbridge, Ed (Helen) of Taber, Dave (Elvira) of Calgary, Nancy of Lethbridge, Ruth (John) Domaschenko of Calgary; nine grandchildren: Louise, Sherry, Jeremy, Michelle, Carole, Ryan, Michael, Allison and Greg; eighteen great-grandchildren; sister Bertha of Winnipeg as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his siblings, Wilhelm, Helen, Dietrich, Cornelius and John. He immigrated to Canada from Russia, along with his parents Dietrich and Bertha and two siblings in 1930, and settled in the Grassy Lake area. He married the love of his life, Annie Koehn, on October 4, 1936 and together they built up and operated a farm south of Grassy Lake until 1979 when they retired to their new home in Lethbridge. They have had the privilege of staying in their own home until four weeks ago when Jacob was admitted to St. Michael's care facility where he passed away. They only needed assistance in their home in the last two years where they were blessed with loving caregivers, Jacob was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather great-grandfather, praying daily for his family. All who met him knew him as a quiet, compassionate, generous, hard working and humble man. All of us are better for having known him and loved him.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the St. Michael's Palliative Care Centre.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 7:00PM and 8:00PM on Friday, August 24, 2007 at MARTIN BROS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30AM on Saturday, August 25, 2007 at the EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCH, 4717 - 24 Ave South, Lethbridge, with Reverend Rudy Heidebrecht officiating. Interment in Mountain View Cemetery, Family Plot.
