ISABEL DICKSON passed away on March 14, 2010 at the age of 88 years. Isabel was born in Winnipeg and grew up in Regina. While attending the University of Alberta (BSc) Isabel met and married Hugh Dickson (BCom) of Warner.
Hugh and Isabel returned to Warner at the end of WWII to start farming. They resided in Warner for the next 40 years where they were actively involved in the community. During her time in Warner, Isabel was a board member of the Alberta Red Cross. As well, she organized and ran the Red Cross Blood Donor Clinics in Warner and the surrounding communities for more than 25 years. Isabel was one of the first farmers to implement the Anti-Salinity Project in southern Alberta.
Hugh and Isabel enjoyed travelling the world visiting New Zealand, Israel, Europe, and many countries in Africa and Asia. In 1975 they moved to Ghana while Hugh worked on a transportation project for C.I.D.A. They returned to Warner and lived on the farm for another 10 years before moving to Lethbridge in 1984, where Isabel resided until her passing.
Isabel was predeceased by Hugh in 1987. She is survived by her children Daun (George) DeSouza, Alan (Lesia) Dickson, Maureen Morris, grandchildren Marquis DeSouza, Paige (Gord) Veurink, Dane, Graham and Avery Morris, great grandchildren Samara and Camryn Veurink.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, March 22, 2010 at BUCHANAN CHAPEL AT SOUTHMINSTER UNITED CHURCH, 1011 4 Ave. S. Lethbridge, with Rev. Lois Punton, officiating.
Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
