Mr. Irvin Duncan (to his friends Irv, Irvin, or I.W.) was dispatched to his final destination on Sunday, March 1, 2026.

Irvin Duncan was born in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, on May 28th, 1930, to Ross and Lucy Duncan. He had two older brothers, Wayne and Ross Roy; one sister, Vera; and later a younger brother, Earl. His uncle Webster also lived with the family. Irvin had a special bond with "Unc," as he was affectionately called.

Irvin grew up on the family farm where he enjoyed farming and working with livestock. Irvin attended country schools and rode his horse to and from school every day. Growing up in the 1930s and 1940s entailed lots of hard manual labor.

Irvin met his first wife, Sheilah Convery, who was a teacher at a nearby country school. They married on July 4, 1952. They welcomed a daughter, Diana, on May 25, 1953, and a son, Keith, on November 20, 1956. Their original plan was to farm in the stone district; however, due to a turn of events, Irvin purchased his first gravel truck… and so it began.

The family traveled with the road construction jobs throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan, finally settling in the Lethbridge area in 1960. Irvin expanded his trucking business over the years, and at its peak, it had over 11 semis and a variety of trailers for hauling numerous types of commodities. In 2003 he was awarded the Alberta Operator of the Year award for all of Canada.

Irvin married his second wife, Jaqueline Pirot, in 1987. They continued to operate the business until they downsized and moved to Barons, Alberta, in 1998. He worked as an owner-operator leasing to several companies. The last ten years of trucking were with Roberge Transport, hauling livestock.

In 2020, at the age of 90, and after the passing of his wife, he hung up his semi keys. He kept his rig on the driveway until the summer of 2025 and maintained his unrestricted Class 1 license, saying, "He wanted to keep his options open." In the fall of 2025, Irvin reluctantly sold his semi and moved to Lethbridge, where he resided until his passing.

Irvin is lovingly remembered by his daughter Diana (Arnie) Fuhrmann; son Keith (Sandra) Duncan; grandchildren Shantel (Kevin) Lyons, Nathan (Francy) Duncan, and Seth (Melissa) Duncan; step-grandchildren Ryan and Kyle (Nicky) Fuhrmann; great-grandchildren Wyatt, Sienna, and Lena Lyons, Isla and Dawson Duncan; and step-grandchildren Kyleigh Tytlula, Lainie Fuhrmann, and Ryder Fuhrmann. Also left to mourn is Irvin's brother Earl (Elaine) Duncan of Maple Creek, Saskatchewan.

Irvin was predeceased by his grandson Cody Duncan, as well as numerous family and friends, whose memory he cherished deeply. Irvin predeceased his sister Vera Herchmer of Creston, B.C., who passed on March 28, 2026, at the age of 98 years.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00PM on Friday, April 17, 2026, at the Park Meadows Baptist Church—2011 15 Ave N, Lethbridge, Alberta.

For those unable to attend, a livestream will be available at https://www.youtube.com/@ParkMeadowsBaptistChurch/streams prior to the service.
