Iris Sarter 1920 ~ 2013

Iris Margaret Sarter of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Dennis (Jim) James Sarter passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at the age of 93 years.

Iris was born in Croydon, England on March 12, 1920. She was the only child of Ada and Charles Jackson. On December 6, 1941 she married Jim Sarter and immigrated to Canada in 1948 and settled in the suburbs of Toronto. In 1980, after Jim retired, they decided to move west settling in the Vancouver area and then finally moving to Lethbridge in 2000. Iris loved the outdoors and spent many hours in her garden and going on long walks. She also loved the RV lifestyle and enjoyed camping in the Arizona desert. She had a special place in her heart for animals, especially dogs. Iris is survived by her daughter Vivienne Snow; son Terence Sarter; grandchildren Christine (Rene) Huel of Rossland, BC and Catherine (Tyler) Rice of Calgary, AB; and her great-grandchildren Anika, Hayden, Noah and Samuel. Besides her loving husband Jim, Iris was predeceased by her parents Ada and Charles Jackson and daughter-in-law Wilma Ruth Sarter, with whom she was very close. The family will be holding a private memorial service at a later date.
