TICHLER
IRENE MARJORIE (HAUGEN) TICHLER of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. ""Dick"" Tichler, passed away after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's on Thursday, April 24, 2008 at the age of 90 years.
Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Phyllis (Don) Pylypow and Dorothy Parker of Lethbridge. Grandma will be missed by six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren: Dorothy Tajiri, Evan, Erin and Erik of Calgary; Karen (Cory), Mercedes, Mackenzie and Jordan Carson of Kelowna; Allan Timm and girls, Alycia and Ashley of Taber; Penny ""Christine"" Baxter of Courtenay, BC; Rosemary and boys, Jake, Joshua and Jordan Dumont; Sandra (Darrell) Black and Zachary of Edmonton and Darrell's children, Christopher, Kimberley, Shawna and granddaughter Abigail, as well as two Pylypow step-granddaughters and 4 step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters Mabel and Ruth and three brothers Carl, Paul and Norman.
She was predeceased by her parents, Ole and Margaret Haugen and her siblings Harold, George, Alice, Leo and Ralph.
Irene was born in Aden, Alberta on March 19, 1918, the second oldest in a family of 11 children
She married Dick Tichler in 1944. They farmed near Iron Springs until 1956 when they moved the family to the Enchant area where they farmed until 1971 when the farm was sold and eventually moved into Enchant. In 1996 they moved into the Garden View Lodge in Lethbridge where they enjoyed a new lifestyle and for the last three years, she has been content and comfortable in the Golden Acres Lodge. Mom's church and family were most important to her. She willingly served in every office in the church, including janitor, during her lifetime and even led Bible study when needed. She dearly loved and was so proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, April 28, 2008 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, with Reverend Jeff Frostad officiating.
