Irene Ponych

MRS. IRENE PONYCH passed away peacefully at Crestview Care Village in Creston, BC, on October 23, 2009. Irene was predeceased by her husband Nick, after 60 years of marriage, and survived by daughter Jackie (Allan) Kimmel of Creston, son Mike (Joy) of Vancouver, grandsons Ryan, Lukas, Lance and Mike, granddaughters Jessie and MeLynda Rose and 4 great grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, friends and caring staff.

Irene was born in London, England. She met Nick (the love of her life) during World War II. They married in February 1943, and moved to Lethbridge after the war. They were both kind and generous folks who shared their life with many friends in Lethbridge and 50 years later with new friends in Calgary and Creston. Irene loved volunteering, company, children, flowers, knitting, swimming, boating, bowling, camping, and the outdoors. Her heart was always open and she will be remembered as a beautiful person with a friendly smile and polite manner.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, October 30, 2009 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge, AB, with Canon James Robinson, officiating.
