Irene Ganne

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Irene Joan Ganne on May 29, 2016, at the age of 91 years.

Irene was born on Nov. 11, 1924 in Markinch, Saskatchewan. She was predeceased by her husband Leonard, first husband Arthur, her parents George and Efrusina Staruiala; brothers George, Nick and Danny; sisters Mary Duduman, Anne Bogdan, Vicki Algera, Helen George, Evelene Haatvedt, Violet Pauly, Kitty Kyle and Connie Sweeney. Irene is survived by sisters Florence Neimor of Winnipeg and Frances Borrebach of Calgary, and many nieces and nephews.

Irene specialized in retail sales in Regina and Saskatoon, and for several years joined her sisters at the Glo Uniform Co. and the newsstand at the Hotel Saskatchewan. She was very outgoing, and had a keen eye for fashion and style.

Family and friends were Irene's passion and delight. She loved to host and entertain, and was a wonderful cook. Dancing was always a part of her life, and in later years she developed such a passion for golf that she won multiple awards.

In keeping with Irene's wishes, no service will be held. Arrangements entrusted to Martin Brothers Funeral Chapels, Lethbridge, Alberta.
