It is with great sorrow that the family of Hugh William Kerr, beloved husband of Carol, announce his passing on Sunday, October 25, 2009 at the age of 73 years. Hugh bravely fought a lengthy illness and will always be loved and fondly remembered.
Hugh was born in Lethbridge on March 1, 1936, the middle child of Hugh and Delia Kerr. He grew up in Milk River before moving to Lethbridge in 1954. He married Carol on June 20, 1970 and their only child, Marnie, was born in 1975.
Hugh worked at the University of Lethbridge for many years, until retiring in 1991. Following his retirement Hugh pursued numerous hobbies, including knife making, golfing, and his passion, computers. He also enjoyed travelling, having visited Mexico, Australia, Scotland, and Wales in recent years.
Besides his loving wife Carol, Hugh is survived by his daughter Marnie (Nathan) Hicks and grandson Owen Hugh. He is also survived by his sister, Marion Semple; brother Ranon (Faye) Kerr as well as his wife's extended family and his numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Hugh was predeceased by his parents Hugh and Delia Kerr; his stepmother Olive Kerr; brother-in-law Bob Semple; nephew Troy McLaughlin as well as Carol's parents, John and Alice Rieger.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am, on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 St., S., Lethbridge, Alberta, with Canon James Robinson officiating. Inurnment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
