MR. JOACHIM (JOE) HUEMER passed away on August 2, 2010 at St. Michael's Palliative Care Centre. He passed into the hands of God, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 78 years, after a valiant battle with cancer.

Joe was born on July 5th, 1932 in Cotsinnow, Germany. He was the oldest of 4 children. In Germany, Joe worked in landscaping. Before leaving to Canada, Joe married his love Helga, and they eventually rejoined in Canada. Together they had four children. They lived in Toronto for some time, and settled in Lethbridge in 1960. Joe worked at Canada Packers, and spent his free time coaching boxing and beekeeping. After his retirement, he pursued his passion of gardening and landscaping. He continued to keep a beautiful garden in his own yard, as well as grace others with his knowledge of lawn care and gardening.

Joe was predeceased by his teenage daughter Angela, his wife Helga, his brother and sister and his parents. He leaves behind to mourn his passing his daughter Sylvia (Ron) Viney, son Barry (Gina) Huemer and Baily Huemer, as well as his brother in Germany, Horst (Volke) and niece Meike. He also leaves to mourn his beloved grandchildren Tammi, Kayla and Travis Viney and John, Linnaea and Laura Munro, as well as special friend Therese Lamoureaux.

Friends are invited to pay their respects from 7:30 to 8:30 pm on Thursday, August 5, 2010 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 6, 2010 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, with Deacon Frank Peta, officiating.
