HENRY BERGEN

1929 ~ 2018

Henry Bergen, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital.

Henry was a strong, hard working man who did whatever it took to provide for his family. He was a farmer, a sawyer, a construction worker and a coalminer. Henry lived in the CNP and area with his wife for many years, raising their family of 8. He and his wife retired to Drumheller in the early 90's where they enjoyed family time camping and fishing and the occasion trip to Vegas.

They moved to Lethbridge in 2003 before realizing city life was not for them and headed down the road to Fort Macleod in 2005. Henry soon became a regular at the Welcome Mat playing crib and pool. He loved playing pool and did so until his legs would not hold him. Henry also played a mean game of crib, always looking for the elusive perfect hand.

Henry is survived by 8 children, Robert (Diane) Bergen, Barb (Dave) Whitney, Cathy (Jim) Clarke, Doug (Karen) Bergen, David (Joyce) Bergen, Shirley (Tim) Lynnes, Rodney (Patti) Bergen and Marianne (Stuart) MacKay; his 17 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; one sister, Liz Wright; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Henry is predeceased by his wife Dorothy Ada Bergen (Wright) in 2012, and his son Carey Bradford Bergen.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, February 9, 2018 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4th Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Reverend Eva Stanley officiating.

A Private Family Graveside will be held in the Fort Macleod Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to The Fort Macleod Handi-Bus Society, Box 881, Fort Macleod, Alberta, T0L 0Z0.
