MR. HELMAR MICHAELIS born on May 20, 1919 in Fernando, Minnesota, passed away at his home, on Monday, March 24, 2008 at the age of 88 years, with Margaret his loving wife of 57 years by his side.

Besides his loving wife Margaret, Helmar is survived by his children Marvin (Donna) of Red Deer, Norm (Lil) of Airdrie, Dolores (Dennis) Ellert of Milk River, Bert (Debbie) of Lethbridge; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by Beverly (Gayle) Holroyd and family; sisters-in-law Rose Michaelis and Mabel Michaelis, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Helmar was predeceased by his brothers Harry and Melven and sisters Della (Doug) St. Peter and Chris Collins.

Helmar had a special bond with his brother Harry whom he farmed with for 36 years before retiring in 1972. After retiring from farming he worked at the Research Station in Lethbridge for 8 years.

Dad was our very caring hero. He loved to meet new and old friends daily never having a harsh word about anyone. He taught everyone to laugh from the heart and the glass was always at least half full.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 7:00pm and 8:00pm on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, March 28, 2008 at IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 20 Rocky Mountain Blvd West, Lethbridge, with Pastor Richard Brown officiating. Interment to follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.
