MRS. HELENA KOLPAK of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Edward Kolpak, passed away at St. Therese Villa on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the age of 95 years.
Helena is survived by her two sons, John (Lela), Leonard (Sharon) and daughter Teresa, all of Lethbridge; as well as 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Helena was born in Poland on September 15, 1916. In August of 1943, Helena and her family were taken to Germany, where she and her husband worked as forced laborers until the end of the war. In 1949 they all immigrated to Canada, settling in Lethbridge in 1951. She was very dedicated to her family, children and grand & great-grand children. Helena was an avid gardener, who loved flowers.
Helena was predeceased by her husband Edward, her mother Zofia and son Henry.
Vigil Rites (Prayers) will be held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge, led by Deacon Frank and Eileen Peta.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at ST. BASIL'S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 604 13th Street North, Lethbridge, with Father Ed Flanagan and Deacon Frank Peta, celebrants.
Interment at Mountain View Cemetery, Lethbridge, Alberta.
