Helen Vucurevich

HELEN VUCUREVICH, beloved wife of the late Steve Vucurevich, passed away peacefully March 20, 2009 at Chinook Regional Hospital surrounded by her family two days before her 91st birthday.

She is survived by her children: Walter (Janice), Bill (Janet), daughter-in-law Valerie, John (Sophie), Jeanne Danyluk and daughter-in-law Faye (Don) Hamilton, 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Mary Berner and sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.

Helen was predeceased by her husband Steve in 1994, sons; Mark in 1982 and Nicholas in 2008; her parents, brothers; John, Michael, Peter, Charlie, Steve, George, Paul and sister Annie.

Helen was born to John and Helen Ganger on March 22, 1918 in Kopasznevo, Czechoslovakia. She was the eldest of 10 siblings. Helen came to Canada in 1926 with her family and was raised in Lethbridge.

On February 11, 1934 she married Steve Vucurevich. They started their married life in Lethbridge and later moved to a farm near Raymond. In 1947 they bought a farm in the Sunnyside area, northeast of Lethbridge. They worked hard and raised their family there. Her family was her greatest joy. Helen was a wonderful cook, great gardener and homemaker. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

In 1995 Helen moved from the farm to Grandview Village where she made many friends and enjoyed condo life. Recently she lived at Columbia Assisted Living.

At Helen's request there will be a private family funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
