1936 ~ 2015

Helen Evjen of Coaldale, passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at the age of 78 years.

Helen was born on December 20, 1936 living at her Grandmother’s farm in Saskatchewan of which she held very fond memories. Helen left the farm and moved to the big city where someone suggested she enter a local contest and she was crowned Miss Saskatchewan in 1955.

Helen joined the RCAF and after her honorable discharge, she married and started a family and raised all six of her children almost entirely single handedly. Many of her friends and family remember the many wonderful day trips to Park Lake. After many years of working for the municipality of Coaldale and Revenue Canada, Helen retired and moved back to her beloved home in Coaldale. It is then that she rekindled her love of gardening, Sunday drives, and one of her favorite pass times; garage and yard sales.

Helen is survived by her brother Andreas; her four children Anthony, Lynn, Blake and Andrew; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

There will never be a more loving mother and friend, she will be greatly missed, and remembered always by everyone who loved her.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at the EAGLE’S HALL, 631 13 Street North, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Pastor Rodger Halvorsen officiating.
