Helen Chmielewski

HELEN CHMIELEWSKI was born January 1st, 1921. It is with great sorrow and sadness that the family of Helen Chmielewski announces that she passed away at the Didsbury Hospital in Didsbury, Alberta on May 24, 2011.

Helen will be missed and remembered be her loving family; Her sons Eugene (Gene) and wife Maureen of Parksville, B.C., George and Joan of Lethbridge, Alberta., William (Bill) and Oksana of Edson, Alberta., Daughter Irene of Calgary, Alberta, along with many Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren.

Helen was predeceased be her loving Parents John and Katherine Urbanowicz, four brothers and one sister.

The Family would like to thank everyone for their generous acts of kindness and help that were given to Helen during her stay at the Mountainview Manor in Carstairs and also to the staff of the Didsbury Hospital.

Helen came to Canada in 1948 with her sister, mother and son Eugene. She worked as a cook and eventually owning her own restaurant in Calgary which was popular due to her cooking talents which she was known for even up to her 88th birthday, after that she did not have the strength to cook anymore. She always made sure that you never left her house hungry.
Helen was a deeply religious, kind and loving person who always tried to put a smile on everyone's face. She was a strong willed woman who was a ""Tuff Woman"" as she said, right to the very end of her beautiful life.

We will miss her smile and laugh and her spirit of kindness, and most of all her hugs.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm, on Saturday, May 28, 2011, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge, with the Very Reverend Father Taras Krochak, officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in Helen's memory be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, Box 2211, Lethbridge, AB T1J 4K7.
