HELENA ""HELEN"" BLECH of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Slawek ""Jack"" Blech, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the age of 87 years.
She is survived by her loving daughters Christine (Ian) Wilson and Jeanette (Keith) Greeno; grandchildren Janel (Noah) Yauk, Kylene Wilson, Robert (Amelia) Greeno; great grandsons Liam and Levi; brother Ted (Janina) Kuzminski and their family Helena Vedres-Kuzminski (Mark), Ted Jr. (Tina); and niece Fayla Vedres.
Helen was born in Wilno, Poland to John and Tatiana Kuzminski. In 1946 she married Slawek and they came to Canada to make it their home in 1949. She was a very hard worker loved meeting new people especially at the Ladies wear store where many became lifelong friends. Helen loved to cook for her family and friends, her perogies and cabbage rolls were always the number one request and you'd always find homemade soup on the stove. If she wasn't at home cooking you'd find her at the polish hall preparing the meals for a function. She loved to crochet and enjoyed giving her Santa booties with chocolates inside to her many friends.
Giving back to the community was very important to Helen. She belonged to many organizations including St. Michael's Auxiliary, CWL and the Polish Canadian Combatants. She received many awards for her hard work and dedication and every Sunday you'd see her singing in the choir. There was a saying in our house: ""if mom couldn't fix it then it couldn't be fixed"".
Camping and fishing were her favorite summer activities you'd often see her driving the motor home taking, the grandkids fishing to Beaver Mines, or going with Jack to Radium.
Mom was a kind and caring person who loved to help everyone. Rest in peace Mom, You are now with Dad in Heaven side by side. We will miss you!
