Harold Cooper

1923 - 2007

HAROLD COOPER - resident of Adaptacare in North Lethbridge, formerly of Vancouver, B.C. passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2007 at the age of 84 years.

Harold is survived by his brothers Mervin Cooper of Toronto and Ivan (Shirley) Cooper of Brockville, Ontario, his son, Bob Cooper of Lethbridge and his grandsons, Brett Cooper and Bryan Cooper.

He was predeceased by his father Herman Cooper, his mother Beulah Cooper of Prescott, Ontario, his brother Mansel Cooper of Vancouver, B.C. and his longtime girlfriend Joyce Coughlin.

Harold was born on a farm in Augusta Township, ON, the eldest of three brothers. He worked on the farm for his father before venturing out to Vancouver, where he married and started his career as a Longshoreman. Harold worked as a longshoreman for over 36 years before retiring in 1987. Harold was always on the go in his minivan. He would taxi Bob and his friends to many sports the boys played. He watched as many games as he could around his shift work. Harold and Bob spent many summers fishing, traveling and tenting all over western Canada and the United States.

Harold was a very proud grandpa to Brett and Bryan and almost every van trip to either California to Toronto, a must stop was in Lethbridge to visit his grandsons. The boys loved playing board games and cards with their grandpa. And of course he would often spoil them whenever he could. Harold should be remembered for his gentle manner, warm smile and his sense of humour. Although form the big city of Vancouver, he had the small town friendliness. He loved to visit and get to know new people. Harold was a very loving person who enjoyed life and who was always on the go. He loved to get up at the crack of dawn and head out on the town. He loved to visit and be outside as much as possible. Harold will be dearly missed. The family would like to express gratitude to his caregivers for their dedication and friendship.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, December 8, 2007 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4th St. S., Lethbridge, AB, with Pastor Brian Magee, officiating.
