MR. HANS JOHANN BOHNERT, husband of his beloved wife, Pauline (Paula) for over 56 years, passed away at the age of 79 years on August 19, 2010 in the West Highland Centre.
Hans is survived by his wife and 6 sons and their families; Hilmar; Norbert (Denise) and children Elisa (Brandon) & Daylan; Ralph (Beth) and children Nicole, Aaron, Nathan & Megan; Lorenz and children Sara, Joshua & Josef, (Veronica); Paul (Sherri) and children Tyson, Jeremiah & Kiann; Mark (Beverly) and children Gregory, Jennifer & Ryan. Hans is also survived by his sisters; Regina and Katharina and his brother Josef who live in Meckesheim, Germany. He was predeceased by his parents; Josef and Theresia Bohnert.
Hans was born in Conoplya, Yugoslavia on August 29, 1930. He moved to Germany in 1946 and studied in his chosen profession of Engineering in Heidelberg and Karlsruhe, Germany. In November of 1951 he immigrated to Lethbridge where he met his wife Pauline Hildebrandt in 1952. They were married in 1954 and were blessed with 6 sons and 15 grandchildren. He began his career with the CPR's bridge engineering division as a bridge inspector. He then went on to pursue his profession in design and engineering. He loved his work and always went above and beyond for his clients. Hans started his own business; Nord Precast Concrete Limited (Nord International Inc.) in 1962 which he operated until his retirement and which is still being operated by his sons. His numerous designs are seen throughout the Lethbridge skyline and across Western Canada. He also received a number of awards for his designs.
Hans had a great faith in God and demonstrated his commitment to his beliefs throughout his life. He was a loyal and loving husband, father and Opa. He touched many lives and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge, with Pastor Robert Berendt, officiating.
