Hank Schuurman

SCHUURMAN, HENDRIK (HANK) TEUNIS beloved husband of Nellie Schuurman passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at the Good Samaritans West Highlands after a lengthy illness. He was born on December 17, 1924 in Barneveld, Holland.

Hank served in the Dutch army during World War II. After the war he worked as a tailor and met his lifetime soul mate Nellie and married her on May 14, 1948.

After five years of marriage they immigrated to Canada and resided in Bowness where he worked at the TB hospital. Hank and Nellie returned to Holland at the passing of his father and resided there for three years. Hank and Nellie, along with their children returned to Canada in 1956 where he worked at the Wesley ranch near Granum where Adrian was born. After he left, he worked for seven years as a hired farm hand in Stirling.

His most enjoyable years were as ""Hank the Loader Man"" with Tollestrup Sand & Gravel. He worked there until his retirement in 1988.

After his retirement Hank was kept busy creating wood ornaments to compliment his wife's lovely flower garden.

He was known as being a happy friendly man who was dedicated to his family. Family always came first.

Besides his loving wife Nellie, Hank is survived by his children Bill (Lynne), Joanne (Ron Ramias) and Adrian (Tracy); grandchildren Devin, Brandon (Karri), Brittny, Whittny and their mother Tammy; Hank also has siblings in Holland, Adri (Anke), Janie, Willimien, Maria and sister-in-law Woutje and their families.

Hank was predeceased by his beloved granddaughter Aphton at birth.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00AM, on Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at the MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 St., S., Lethbridge, AB, with Pastor Jim Lindemann officiating.
