GWEN WOODCOCK of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Fred Woodcock, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2007 at the age of 83 years.
Gwen was born in Farnborough, England on December 11, 1923. She met the love of her life Fred and they were married on September 6, 1941. Gwen became Lethbridge's first War Bride in 1944, when she moved here from England.
Gwen was a home maker raising her four children. Later she spent many years as the cook at Golden Acres Lodge. A job mum cherished. She was an active member of the First United Church and the U.C.W. She enjoyed traveling especially the trip she took with her dear sister Syl back to England. In her later years Gwen was a member of the Lethbridge Senior Centre, where she enjoyed trips, aqua fit and living life.
Gwen is survived by her daughters Gloria Woodcock, Chris Woodcock; sons Brian (Bev) Woodcock, David (Janet) Woodcock; grandchildren Colin, Kyle, Stephen and Sarah Woodcock.
Besides her loving husband Gwen was predeceased by her parents Harry and Rhoda Lay; brothers Keith Lay, Bob Lay and her dear sister Sylvia Dickason.
Family and Friends are invited to pay their respects between 6:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4th St. S.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 24, 2007 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4th St. S., Lethbridge, with Pastor Heather Clark, officiating.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Those who wish, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
