Gus Teerling

Gus Teerling of Lethbridge, AB, beloved husband of Betty Teerling, passed away peacefully, secure in his knowledge of Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour on February 7, 2022, at the age of 86 years.

Gus was born in Warffum, Groningen, Netherlands on September 15, 1935, to Siepko and Reine Teerling. At the age of 16 he immigrated to Canada with his family, settling near Saskatoon, SK, before moving to Vauxhall, Alberta. There he met his bride, Betty DeWeert, built their first family home and welcomed their first three daughters. After accepting a job as a maintenance carpenter with the City of Lethbridge they settled there and welcomed their fourth daughter. He will be remembered for his zest for life! Gus had a love for singing and participated in many choirs, quartets and small singing groups. He was also known for his love of reading, carpentry skills, and his enjoyment of gardening.

Gus was a devoted husband who loved his family deeply. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 54 years, Betty Teerling. His memory will be treasured by his four daughters: Sonya (Robert) Wagenaar, Winona (Eric) Nederlof, Natasha (Curt Andrew) de Koning, and Krista Teerling (Ryan Hirsche). Gus was honoured to be the grandfather of Jaron (Trish), Justin (Karina), Brayden, Shaylyn (Caleb); Tynnea (Dan), Tannis (Zac), Raina (Jordan), Luke; Aaron, Eli; Nathan, and Samuel. He was a proud great grandfather of Jack, Deklan, Emmet and Layla.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 10:00 am and 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4 St. S, Lethbridge, Alberta. Interment to follow in the Archmount Cemetery.

A Service will be held at 1:00 pm, on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at GRACE REFORMED CHURCH, 1402 8th Ave. N., with Rev. Paul Van Stralen officiating. The service can also be viewed at https://bit.ly/3Lhajvz.
