Grietje Van Dyk

Psalm 43 verse 5 - Hope in God: for I shall praise him.

Mrs. Grietje Van Dyk, beloved wife, mother, oma, and great-oma was called home to heaven on July 17, 2008 after a short battle with cancer.

Grietje was born in Holland on January 11, 1929. She immigrated to Canada in 1951 with her husband Jan shortly after they were married, and settled down in Coaldale.

Grietje was a great mother, loved by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was happy to be at home raising her children, and she also enjoyed reading, puzzling and knitting. Grietje was always an active member of the Canadian Reformed Church.

Grietje is survived by her loving husband Jan, her children Bert, Elsie Livergood, Shirley (Brian) Rutt, Allan (Anita), Elmer (Elsa), siblings Jakob (Annetta), John (Jane), Maggie (Henk), Mary (Dirk), Andy (Helen), 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her parents Hiske and Soertje Leffers and her brothers George and Klaas.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, July 21, 2008, at the CANADIAN REFORMED CHURCH in Coaldale with Reverend D. Poppe officiating.
