Jessie Graham
Official Obituary of
30/11/1920 - to - 2/1/2008
Jessie Marie Graham (nee Carnill) passed away peacefully with her daughter at her side in the Calgary Bethany Harvest Hills Nursing Home on January 2, 2008 at the age of 87.
Jessie was the devoted mother of Spencer (Linda) Williams of Oakville, Margaret (Douglas) Graham of Calgary, and Thomas (Eva) Williams of Montreal. Step mother to Jessie (Walter) Zuk of Calgary and Dora Blitt of Calgary. Loving and caring grandmother of Amber (Mark) Stephen, Natalie (Jamie) Powell, Dan (Heather) Williams, Paul Williams (Guy), Colleen (Dave) Coxson, Peter Williams, Erik Williams, Karl Williams (Daphne), and step-grandmother of Paul Zuk (Melanie), Janine (Cody) Leroux, Dan Blitt and David Blitt (Kelley). Proud and adoring great grandmother of Kelsey, Connor, Parker, Olivia, Reese, Nathan, Lucas, Matthew and Ryan. She was predeceased in 1974 by her husband Allan G. Williams, in 2006 by husband James H. Graham; and her parents Walter and Gertrude Carnill and her brother Billy.
Born in and a resident of Lethbridge for over 80 years, Jessie dedicated her life to caring for family, friends and neighbours. As a grandchild remarked, there is no shortage of good things to say about Grandma. She was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star (Laurel Chapter No. 43) and a long-time member and active supporter of St. Augustine's Anglican Church until moving to Calgary in 2002. Jessie's interest in needlework and knitting combined with her prior experience in ladies' wear shops ultimately led to her proprietorship of Wylie's Tartan Shop until her retirement. She and Jim enjoyed many good years travelling to visit family and interesting places well into their early 80's. Jessie instilled a love and appreciation of music in her children. Nothing delighted her more than having her children and grandchildren perform for her and to see that love of music continue. The family extends a special thank you to her devoted companions Dana, Georgette, and Gizele, and the staff of Bethany Harvest Hills for their loving concern and care in Jessie's last home. Jessie will be greatly missed by her 4 legged friend Marley and her family, of whom, she ""didn't want to brag"", but of whom she was so lovingly proud. We will miss her unconditional love, which touched and blessed each of us.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, January 5, 2007 at ST. AUGUSTINE'S ANGLICAN CHURCH, 411 - 11 Street South, Lethbridge, with Reverend Erin Phillips officiating.
Because Jessie was an enthusiastic supporter of classical music, in lieu of flowers, a contribution to the Lethbridge Kiwanis Music Festival, c/o Linda Bailey, 26 Algonquin Bay West, Lethbridge, AB T1K 5B6, would be greatly appreciated.
